October news
I would loved to have been able to post great news of recovery in the UK/Europe markets and businesses building back up again but the truth is that it looks like we are heading into a second wave of Covid19. We have lost further businesses and many agencies are closing further shops or trimming back on staff.
There are still some bookings coming in when countries do open up and the furlough schemes in EU countries have been extended so it is definitely not all doom and gloom. Trailfinders celebrated their 50th birthday and won Holiday Provider of the Year at the Which? Awards recently. Turquoise Holidays were also winners picking up Best Tour Operator at the Conde Nast awards this year so there is some good news out there.
Many agents are putting together programs and on-line brochures and the biggest issue they are having is suppliers not responding to emails due to furlough, redundancies or possibly the business going under. It is hard to tell which is the issue unless suppliers respond – stay connected or you will lose future business.
Some great people in the industry are starting up new companies to help such as Jane Nicholson with https://limeintheminibar.com/ and Lorna Curry helping anyone needing copyrighting https://www.lornacurrycreativecopy.com/
Predictions of students going back to universities helping spread Covid19 have proven to be true with the only good news being that hospital numbers not increasing as much as previous levels due to their youth/fitness but the spread will continue for a while before things get better. It is still very important to plan for the future so please contact me at keith@tailormaderepresentation.com or phone +44 77699 71217 to make sure your company is at the head of the queue.
